Job description
Our client, based in the Midlands, is currently recruiting for a Technical Officer (Disrepair) on a four to six month temporary contract.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is £30.00 per hour on an umbrella basis.
The ideal candidate must have recent experience of working in Local Authority or Housing Association with Housing Disrepairs is essential and comply with preparing CPR Part 35 reports, as well as identifying the causes of Disrepairs and providing solutions.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Carrying out on site inspections of properties making Disrepair Claims, joint site inspections with surveyors to identify causes of disrepairs and make the necessary solutions within a tight time frame
Overseeing the operational delivery of all Disrepair Claims working closely with another Project Officer on site
Undertaking site pre surveys to produce a report for Solicitors outlining works required and timescales for completion
Ensuring that all works are carried out to a high standard by doing on site quality checks with external contractors and that any estimated completion dates are still on target to be kept
Undertaking post inspections of completed works, making sure that all of the works identified on the presurvey and Solicitors reports are completed to a high standard
Working closely with the Service Improvement Officer and to make sure that records are always kept up to date for each job
Experience required:
Recent experience of working in Local Authority or Housing Association with Housing Disrepairs is essential and comply with preparing CPR Part 35 reports, as well as identifying the causes of Disrepairs and providing solutions
Someone who is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor would be beneficial (RICS)
Experience of repairs contractors is required and/or knowledge of HHSRS
Experience of identifying works required from a Surveyors report
A good knowledge of Housing Construction and problem solving essential
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Proven ability to work within a defined operational service area, to deliver high quality services and meet service and personal performance targets
Knowledge of statutory Good Home Standards affecting housing and operational premises.
Ability to contribute towards the delivery of continuous improvement
Experience of successfully managing, improving and delivering performance whilst working as part of a team whilst motivating others
Good working knowledge of principles and application of general building construction and maintenance techniques
An up to date and continually developing technical housing knowledge inclusive of national, regional, local agendas and operational best practice.
Knowledge of government legislation and best practice in repairs and maintenance
Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements for the delivery of an effective Disrepair service
Knowledge of CMD Building Regs
Working hours:
37 hours per week
Monday – Friday
