Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Bedfordshire, who are recruiting for a Hostel Support Coach on a fixed term contract until November 2025. The position is due to start immediately. The salary for this role is £24,000-£26,000 per annum depending on experience.

The ideal Hostel Support Coach will have previous experience working with or a strong understanding of drug and alcohol related issues, hold an Enhanced DBS certificate or be happy to have one carried out, drive and have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with service users between the age of 16-25 in an asylum seeking setting

  • Conducting room checks to ensure tenancy regulations are adhered to

  • Conduct one to one coaching sessions with service users

  • Provide support through the ‘move on service’ to work with service users looking to transition into longer term accommodation

  • Ensuring service users are registered with medical GP services and other external services as required

  • Managing cases of Antisocial behaviour within the setting

  • Provide housing management advice to service users including support with welfare and housing benefit claims

  • Ensuring all safeguarding regulations are adhered to and being responsible for conducting health and safety checks

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Previous experience within social housing as a Hostel Support Coach or similar

  • Strong understanding of drug and alcohol related issues

  • Enhanced DBS certificate

  • Access to own vehicle and a valid driving license

Working hours:

  • 22 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, shift patterns between: 7am-3pm, 11am-7pm, 9:30am-5:30pm

  • One weekend in 4 is also required to be worked a month
