Job description

Our client, based in Buckinghamshire, is currently recruiting for a Supported Housing Officer on an initial 3 month temporary contract with the view for the role going permanent.

The position is due to start immediately. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £18.50 per hour via an Umbrella company and the annual salary for the role is £29,848.00 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have an Enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last three years and previous experience within a similar role.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing support to clients with various support needs including young people and those suffering from a range of mental health issues and substance abuse issues

  • Assisting tenants to sustain their tenancies by offering sound housing-related advice

  • Undertaking support plans and risk assessments to meet the needs of the individual client

  • Assisting clients with applications for Universal Credit and helping service users to access their maximum benefit entitlement

  • Liaising with external agencies, such as Social Services, families and other carers to help implement plans and enhance the support received

  • Pointing service users in the direction of independence so they are able to function on their own

  • Supporting residents to overcome isolation by encouraging participation and involvement

  • Organising activities for residents to promote positive behaviour and individual development

Experience required:

  • Experience developing support plans and conducting risk assessment

  • Working with a vulnerable client group including those with a history of homelessness

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Able to work autonomously and deal with challenging situations

  • Knowledge of mental health and substance misuse issues

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of Housing legislation

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Working shifts on a rota basis – 8:00am to 4:00pm; 11:00pm to 7:00pm and 2:00pm to 10:00pm

  • Occasional weekend and bank holiday working
