Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in the East Midlands, who are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent contract. The position is due to start in November 2023, with the salary being £38,284 to £42,714 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a similar position in Social Housing, educated to a degree/HND/HNC level and hold a full UK Driving License.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting delivery of sound cost management and accurate cash flow forecasting

  • Working in collaboration with the organisation’s Asset Investment Management and Building Surveyors

  • Reviewing valuations, issuing payment certificates, checking invoices prior to payment & concluding final accounts

  • Ensuring data on completed works is provided in a timely manner to maintain the accuracy of the organisation’s asset management data base

  • Taking an active role in procurement exercises, including production of tender packs and analysis of returned tenders

  • Undertaking training and attend meetings as required and directed by your line manager

  • Ensuring compliance with the organisations Equality & Diversity policy at all times

  • Delivering a service that is value for money

  • Take an active role in options appraisals to inform investment decisions

Experience required:

  • Experience of providing cost management of multi-million pound investment programmes

  • Excellent communication skills X Working knowledge of different forms of construction

  • Working knowledge of construction materials

  • Good commercial acumen and negotiation skills

  • Experience of serving the needs of multiple, diverse stakeholders

  • Experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines

  • Knowledge and experience of the NEC form of contract

  • Ability to use main MS Office packages: Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Proven verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills including presentations

  • Delivers on personal targets and objectives

  • Is focused on personal learning and business improvement

  • Cares about customers and communities and works to exceed their expectations

  • Driving licence car required for business use

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
