Job description

Our Local Authority client based in Wiltshire, is currently recruiting for a Principal Lawyer to oversee their Litigation function on a locum basis, for 3-months initially.

The position is due to start immediately on a part-time basis for 21-hours a week, and the hourly rate is negotiable subject to PQE.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced litigator, with skills in disrepair, housing possessions and licensing.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing high quality legal advice and competently managing a caseload involving Civil and Commercial Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement

  • Advising on a range of matters, including disrepair, housing possessions, licensing, food safety, trading standards prosecution, and employment law matters

  • Drafting, negotiating and completing complex legal documentation

  • Representing the Council as required at the Courts or other Tribunals

  • Supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues, and overseeing effective completion as required
