Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Staffordshire, who are recruiting for an Outreach Worker on a six-week temporary to permanent basis.

The position is due to start immediately. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £20.00 per hour via an Umbrella company and the annual salary for the role is £23,175.00 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have an Enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last three years, drive and have access to their own vehicle (and business insurance). The role is based mostly working on patch, with a requirement to be in the office when needed. There is also opportunity for occasional home working to complete administration work.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Responding to rough sleeper outreach calls across Staffordshire with a caseload of up to 10

  • Supporting customers with additional complex needs including substance misuse and mental health

  • Providing support and guidance to service users and signposting them to additional support services

  • Helping customers to find suitable accommodation and helping to source this

  • Giving advice on welfare benefits and advising customers on their entitlements

  • Working alongside other agencies to deliver on the support outreach programme, for example additional services specialising in substance misuse support

Experience required:

  • Experience working with and delivering intensive support to vulnerable customers

  • Discussing welfare benefit rights and entitlements

  • Sourcing temporary accommodation with a quick turnaround

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Able to work autonomously and deal with challenging situations

  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing and tenancy management

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of Housing legislation

Working hours:

  • 37.50 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (some flexibility required)
