Job description

We are proud to be partnering with an award-winning Housing Association, seeking to appoint an Income Officer based in Somerset, with flexible working from home, and is available on a four-month temporary or fixed term contract.

Role details:

  • Rate: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum

  • Contract: 4 months temporary or fixed term contract

  • Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (09:00am to 17:00pm)

  • Location: Somerset & 2-3 days working from home

The successful candidate will have experience in income and a thorough understanding of Housing Associations.

Duties will include:

  • Discussing repayments and making appropriate arrangements to repay arrears over the phone

  • Advising tenants of all methods available to pay rent and charges, including Direct Debits and ordering rent cards

  • Assisting tenants with their housing benefit claims and offering advice on the implications of Welfare Reform on the clients

  • Taking appropriate actions to maximise income from rents, service chargers, and ensuring tenants income is optimised by signposting to debt and money advice services

  • Delivering proactive services that align with tenants’ needs and encourage a rent payment culture

  • Liaising with relevant team members including Rents Recovery/Housing Officers with regards to tenants’ arrears

  • Challenging/querying Housing Benefit overpayments with tenants/leaseholders and Housing Benefit/DWP

  • Assisting residents with obtaining Universal Credit (UC), monitoring and taking action

  • Identifying fraudulent Housing Benefit Claims and taking the appropriate action
