Job description

We are proud to be partnering with a brilliant Supported Housing Association based in Merseyside, who are looking to appoint a Housing Officer on a 12-month FTC.

This will be a full-time position, with hybrid working (2/3 days home working) and a salary of £30,000.00 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have experience working withing Housing Management and have worked with vulnerable tenants who have specific support needs.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing 40 properties across Wigan and the Wirral, helping with general Housing Management duties including Income, ASB and Tenancy Management

  • Signing up new tenants, preparing tenancy agreements and individual welcome packs, co-ordinating the proof of identity process and undertaking right to rent checks.

  • Monitoring housing benefit claims and addressing any issues that may arise including rent arrears

  • Undertaking compulsory tenancy visits, carrying out tenancy audits and inspections

  • Supporting tenants who are struggling to sustain a tenancy by signposting tenants to welfare rights services, money advice and mutual exchange

  • Advising tenants on keeping their property to a good standard in line with the tenancy agreement.

  • Liaising with external agencies including commissioning local authorities, housing benefit departments, welfare rights services, DWP, charities and debt management services.

  • Responding to enquiries, complaints requests or problems raised by tenants, support providers, appointees or other related professionals, via email, letter, telephone or home visit.

  • Dealing with and investigating breaches of tenancy, serving NOSP’s where appropriate

  • Adhering to current housing law and attending court hearings if necessary

  • Managing voids, rents, and housing benefits across the companies logging system

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Social Housing

  • Experience working with vulnerable tenants in Housing Associations

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
