Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association who are proud to support the local community and embrace their diversity and are looking to appoint a Head of Property Services.

This will be a full-time position based in Bedfordshire, with four days a week in the office. The salary on offer is £60,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful leadership and management of a frontline property services function in a customer-facing organisation.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing the Property Services team (inc Repairs & Maintenance, Cleaning and Gardening teams)

  • Developing and promoting the responsive and planned property services strategies, and operational: as a functional lead in relation to maintenance, repairs, lettings, cleaning and gardening and facilities with a particular focus on the highest quality standards of customer experience, health & safety, compliance and risk management; requiring a hands-on, customer-centric partnering approach

  • Leading the team, responsible for the continual development of services; streamlining processes and working to improve quality, productivity, efficiency and overall customer service

  • Contributing to the identification, evaluation and delivery of business and growth opportunities in accordance with the organisations strategies and objectives

  • Liaising with contractors, all relevant agencies, local authorities and other partners, including other departments and stakeholders

  • Owning and developing the capital investment programme in line with Asset Management strategy

  • Taking a lead in driving the quality and provision of frontline property services, ensuring the organisation complies with best practice, legislative compliance, safety and service agreements and maximises its resources

Experience required:

  • A track record of successful leadership and management of a frontline property services function in a customer-facing organisation

  • Good working knowledge of building construction, building regulations and health and safety legislation

  • Evidence of successfully leading a team at a senior level

  • Experience of leading and managing change and creating a culture of continuous improvement

  • Evidence of being a team player who can support and promote corporate objectives

  • Evidence of inspirational leadership, successful performance management, business partnering and an entrepreneurial approach

  • Experience of delivering high standards of customer service to all customers, internal and external

  • Experience of managing and overseeing all aspects of H&S and Compliance

  • Working knowledge of accessing and updating information on a properties database

  • Business/commercial values & insight, value for money

  • Financial experience/ budgetary control

  • Risk management strategy development

  • Preparing reports

  • Reporting to Board level

  • Experience of monitoring & evaluation

  • Experience of delivering strategic projects/programmes (responsive and planned)

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday

  • Four days a week in the office, one day at home
