Job description

We are partnering with a leading London based Museum to recruit a Financial Controller to manage day-to-day financial operations. This includes all aspects of financial accounting, cash flow, debtor and creditor management.

This position is a 6-month fixed-term contract with possible extension/ the likelihood to become a permanent role. The salary on offer is between £54,000 - £60,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified CCAB accountant.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervising the maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes for the main company and trading subsidiary

  • Oversight of the year-end process including statutory accounts and external audit, including completion of the statutory accounts

  • Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant Charity legislation

  • Liaising with bank and ensuring bank signatories are up to date

  • Providing financial and non-financial information to Trustees, Directors, Budget Holders, Project Managers and External Funders

  • Setting work plans, delegating tasks, reviewing performance, providing guidance, line management, coaching and mentoring for live direct reports

Skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Demonstrable experience in an accountancy and/or finance environment

  • Previous experience of managing a team of similar size and operating in a complex environment

  • Experience gained from either: audit; an accounting firm, or a charity, public sector or similar organisation and hold a professional accounting qualification

  • Working knowledge of Financial Reporting Manual

  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills in order to line manage, convey complex information, influence and negotiate

  • Excellent computer literacy skills, including a high degree of proficiency with spreadsheets and interrogating a computerised accounts system

  • Ability to work under pressure, in a flexible manner and maintaining attention to detail

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday
