Job description

Our client, based in Hertfordshire, is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer on a 3 month temporary contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The day rate is negotiable up to £45ph via Umbrella Ltd.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in private sector housing and have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertake all general environmental health duties, in either the Commercial or Residential teams, including responding to complaints and other requests for service, carrying out reactive and proactive inspections and visits. Prepare correspondence, notices, legal documents etc necessary to discharge these duties including attending court

  • Carrying out enforcement actions for noise and nuisance complaints

  • Provide specialist advice on complex technical and professional issues to Council officers, councillors, members of the public and external organisations

  • Collating and preparing evidence and in Court processes in respect of relevant work and to attend Court and public inquiries

Experience required:

  • Knowledge of current and proposed legislation relating to Environmental Health and the ability to implement relevant legislation

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Financial management and budgeting

  • Compliance and due diligence

  • Inspections

  • Court orders and proceedings

  • 22.5 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm (guideline)
