Job description
Our client, based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, is currently recruiting for a Qualified Environmental Health Officer on a part time 3 month temporary contract.
The position is due to start immediately on a part time basis for 18.5 hours / 2.5 days. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.
The ideal candidate will have be EHRB / CIEH registered (essential), have a basic DBS, hold a full, valid UK driver’s licence and access to own vehicle. Additional experience in using Idox - Uniform data base software is desirable.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Regulation and enforcement in the areas of food safety and hygiene, health and safety and public health in Commercial properties
- Perform a wide range of environmental health duties within the Commercial team, particularly in food safety, workplace health and safety, and infectious diseases
- Conduct food hygiene inspections for both rated and unrated businesses, developing and implementing an alternative enforcement strategy to address a backlog of Category E premises, and responding to complaints and service requests.
- Carry out both reactive and proactive inspections and visits as required
- Prepare correspondence, notices, legal documents, and other materials necessary to fulfill these duties, including attending court when required
- Ensure awareness of and adherence to relevant procedures, policies, strategies, and legislation, maintaining a consistent and professional approach
- Compile and present clear reports and recommendations to officers, senior management, and members, interpreting and applying legislation and guidance, and undertaking investigations or enforcement actions as appropriate
- Assist and support the Team Manager, as required, in all aspects of work within their sphere of responsibility
