Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Government body based in Hertfordshire, who are recruiting for a Employee Relations Business Partner on a temporary 4 month contract. The position is due to start immediately. The hourly rate of pay is being offered for this position is circa £24.

The ideal candidate must have an CIPD qualification and experience of advising, supporting and coaching managers on issues such as Employee Relations, TUPE transfers and restructuring.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Advising, supporting and coaching managers to deal with a range of employee relations casework including disciplinary and grievance, managing performance and capability issues, absence management, harassment, bullying cases and Employment Tribunals and TUPE transfers. Ensuring that advice given is commercially focused and risk preferring

  • Supporting and advising managers during change programmes (restructuring and redesign), exit and redundancy and redeployment programmes, project manage these where applicable

  • Adhering and ensuring compliance to the organisations policies, rules and procedures including, Health and Safety, Equality & Diversity, information management including Data Protection, HR, all other legislative responsibilities, governance, financial and procedural rules

  • Working with and support Assistant Directors and line managers providing clear, consistent and expert HR advice

  • Representing the organisation externally as appropriate, acting as an ambassador and developing relationships to ensure a positive view of the organisation and to influence agendas to meet organisational needs

Experience required:

  • Experience of providing advice and support to managers on issues such as disciplinary, grievances, redundancy, TUPE or absence management

  • Proven experience in proactively creating, maintaining and promoting a strong network of connections with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Highly experienced in giving proper consideration to problems and to come up with good solutions

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting formal and complex cases under the direction, either in a lead or supporting role.

  • Experience of collating and providing timely and accurate management information

  • Experience of undertaking job evaluation procedures

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • CIPD qualification or relevant experience at Level 3, or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of current Employment Law and HR Practices and their day-to-day application

  • Analytical and judgment skills with the ability to analyse and evaluate data from various sources to take quick confident decisions at a strategic level to move things forward to meet organisational goals.

  • Ability to support and shape strategies and plans which will help put into practice and support the Councils vision and long term direction.

  • Demonstrates the ability to achieve individual and organisational objectives and targets through the use of effective negotiating and influencing techniques

  • A demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the aims, objectives and tasks of an HR Department in a service delivery organisation
