Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Surrey, who are recruiting for 3 x Damp, Mould & Disrepair and Major Works Surveyors on a temporary three-to-four-month contract or will consider candidates on a permanent basis.

The patch you will be covering in London & South East dependent on your location.

The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The daily rate of pay is up to £350 per day dependent on experience and the permanent salary is between £55,000 - £60,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate must have a formal qualification (e.g. HNC/HND) and have experience of damp, mould and disrepair.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Project manage Damp, Mould, Disrepair and Major Works from inception through to completion including diagnosing, specifying; procuring and monitoring
  • Undertake contractor administration duties as required including reviewing Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Works, Specifications and all contract documentation, ensuring that these comply with the project brief and timescales, budget estimates, all relevant legislation, health and safety regulations and policies
  • Providing expert technical support and advice building related matters and to act as an expert witness in cases of disrepair litigation
  • Pre and post inspections, processing variations
  • To effectively manage contractors, carrying out and managing the quality inspection process of works, including pre-start scoping, work in progress quality inspections and post inspection sign-offs
  • Experience required:

  • Experience required in dealing with damp, mould & disrepair
  • Experience of managing suppliers through long term contracts which include JCT Measured Term contracts or similar
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in delivering stock investment / major works to social housing or private residential housing
  • Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

    • Excellent organisational skills and able to work within project time constraints
    • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) skills across all levels of an organisation and with customers
    • Holds a professional qualification in a relevant technical discipline
