Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a local authority in Leicestershire, who are currently seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join their team for an absolute minimum of six months. They are completely open minded and are willing to consider candidates on a temporary or permanent basis. The permanent salary is paying up to £46,731 per annum, but they are willing to be very flexible with temporary rates, so please just let us know what you are looking for and we can put you forward!

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing and promoting a high quality, accessible and customer focussed value for money regulatory Building Control service throughout the district

  • Positively contribute in providing and promoting a high quality, cost neutral, accessible, responsive and customer focussed value for money service

  • Examining deposited plans to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations

  • Undertaking site inspections of building work in progress to ensure compliance

  • Undertaking necessary inspections on dangerous structures and reporting back to the Building Control Manager

  • Inspecting buildings intended to be demolished

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Ideally an appropriate degree or diploma in Building Surveying or HNC in Building

  • Ideally a Member of Chartered Association of Building Engineers or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors

  • Must be familiar with building safety regulator requirements and operational standards

  • Validated to at least level Class 2A

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Standard hours are Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm but they can be slightly flexible

  • This is a hybrid role and there is no strict requirement to come into the office
