Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for a locum Commercial & Contracts Lawyer on an initial 3-month contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is £60 - £70 per hour, via an umbrella company, dependent on PQE.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within local government, and have strong experience dealing with complex commercial and procurement matters.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a full caseload of 25+ of commercial and procurement matters, including bespoke framework agreements and social care contracts
  • Advising on procurement law and framework agreements
  • Drafting Capital Programme construction contracts (NEC4) 
  • Preparing call off contracts, variations, novations, grant funding agreements, subsidy control advice, construction contracts (NEC)
  • Advising on public procurement queries, commenting on decision records and cabinet and council reports surrounding award of contracts etc.
  • Providing advice on legal implications in officer decision records to award contracts

    • Experience required:

    • Experience required in Local Government

    Working hours:

    • 37 hours per week, part-time options available
    • Monday – Friday
