Job description

Our client, based in Kent, is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works on a 3-month temporary contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The daily rate is £280 per day Via Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have formal technical training or education in building construction, HNC or equivalent and desirably have a Membership of a trades association or The Institute of Clerk of Works (ICWCI).

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring properties and sites are regularly inspected to check workmanship and standards of construction comply with quality controls and are compliant with the agreed materials, contract conditions, current legislation and are defect free
  • Undertaking pre, post inspections, mid-term inspections and health & safety spot checks recommending corrective action where necessary
  • Monitoring and keep accurate records of progress on site, including a record of any variations, snagging and health and safety records. Accurately update ROCC, MRI and Keystone on the progress of all jobs
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and any other required data/reports to the Repairs Team, attend progress and monthly contractor meetings as and when required
  • Providing excellent customer services always and learn and improve services from any customer feedback, satisfaction, and complaints

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Social Housing
  • Experience working with customers within housing
  • Formal technical training or education in building construction, HNC or equivalent
  • ICWCI Membership (Desirable)

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • A competent knowledge of relevant and current, codes of practice, building regulations, health and safety legislation, standards, and material
  • An in-depth knowledge of construction and design and construction related defects and how to avoid them
  • Understands property condition surveys, analysing the survey data and preparing reports.
  • Excellent communication skills
