Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Council based in Berkshire, who are recruiting for 4 Building Surveyors on a permanent contract on a salary ranging between £36,000 to £62,000 depending on the level of the candidate.
There are also temporary to permanent options for this role as the client is looking to recruit a variety of surveyors on different levels. The daily rate for these roles goes up to £350 per day for the right candidate.
These positions are due to interview this week and start as soon as possible, offering 2/3 days working from home and flexible working.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidates will have a building and construction related degree as well as ASSORICS/ MRICS, MCIOB or NEBOSH.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Carrying out party wall awards and issuing
Overseeing and reporting on disrepair cases
Managing procurement for new roof installations
Surveying Victorian buildings and new build properties
Works involved include kitchen, bathroom, retrofit, heating, electrical installation upgrades, recladding blocks and flats
Preparing drawings as required, schedule of works and specifications through the various stages required for the delivering of improvement works, planned and reactive repairs on commercial and corporate council buildings
Providing detailed knowledge of building technology and construction including identifying diagnosing defects and repair solutions
Managing projects from inception to completion including the preparation of documents for quotation and tendering purposes, anywhere from £100K - £6m
Liaising with internal teams to ensure coordination with other capital works programmes
Experience required:
At least 3 years post degree or 5 years Post HNC in construction
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Literate/numerate to enable the day-to-day office and contract management
High degree of IT literacy with the ability to use a variety of programmes
Well organised with the ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision
Decisive and assertive
Problem Solving requiring a high degree of creativity
Team player
Excellent communication skills at all levels including liaison with Tenants, Cllrs and Senior Management.
Working knowledge/understanding of construction industry activities
High degree of accuracy particularly with regard to measured surveys, drawings and specification writing.
