Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Surrey, who are recruiting for Building Supervisor - Caretaker on a 12-month contract. The position is due to start immediately and the rate is between £15 - £17 per hour via an Umbrella company. .

The ideal candidate will ensure an effective and efficient service in areas of building security, caretaking, cleaning, receipt of deliveries and all other aspects of the maintenance of the housing association.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring that the office, meeting rooms and kitchen are clean and tidy and bins are emptied. Empty the dishwasher; ensure that the meeting area has sufficient cups, saucers and glasses

  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day cleaning within the office, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is attained including dusting and vacuuming all office areas and cleaning glass partitions in the office doors

  • Opening and closing the premises at the end of business while checking staff and public toilets, ensuring that windows are secure, all electrical appliances and equipment are switched off and disconnected as appropriate, set alarms and ensure that the premises are secure

  • Taking deliveries of goods (e.g. parcels, furniture and mail) and distributing to the relevant departments

  • Assuming responsibility of the security of the car park, carrying out patrols at various times, reporting any incidents

  • Carrying out regular maintenance checks of the premises covering he fabric, furniture and fittings and report any defects to the Facilities Manager

  • Ensuring that external areas are always kept clean and tidy and accessible while maintaining stock control

  • Collecting mail and testing fire alarms, panic buttons and emergency lighting

  • Using MsExcel and MsWork to prepare spreadsheets and documents for reports and auditing on building activities including booking in contractors and logging requests

Experience required:

  • Experience of cleaning in an office environment

  • Knowledge of health and safety relevant to the role

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Good communication skills at all levels including clear handwriting

  • Ability to liaise with other members of staff

  • Prowess in dealing with emergencies and to stay calm in any situation

  • Ability to work on own initiative and to be self

  • Knowledge of COSHH Regulations

  • 36.25 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
