Job description
We are currently partnering with a Local Government who are recruiting for an Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their growing team on a temporary basis of 3 – 6 months.
This is a fully remote role with remote advocacy.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Undertaking advocacy and representing the council in the Court of Protection when necessary – this can be done on a remote basis
Providing detailed and accurate advice on the Clients responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Mental Health Act 1983
Providing legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including Ordinary Residence, safeguarding, provider failure S117 aftercare
Submitting applications to the Court of Protection and high Court e.g COP applications for Deputyship, welfare and best interests, DOL, S21a challenges, JR and inherent jurisdiction
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Previous experience working within Local Government or Legal Firm with local government clients
Be able to undertake and manage a large caseload of Adult Social Care matters
To undertake all of the responsibilities with minimal managerial support and able to work in a sole capacity
