Job description
Our client, a Local Authority based in the North West, is currently recruiting for a Senior Childcare Lawyer on a locum basis for 3-months initially.
The role offers remote working with attendance required at hearings in the Manchester Courts, and the rate is in the region of £55 p/hour UMB.
The team have capacity for full-time hours, however part-time and flexible options will be considered.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Managing a caseload of complex legal work relating to public and private children’s law, including conducting and managing a caseload of legal applications and providing advice to the client group
Taking responsibility for legal safeguarding and planning for children, with political sensitivity in relation to advising on the same
Handling own advocacy, including representing the Council in contested proceedings
Acting as a mentor to a designated Lawyer and/or Legal Officer
Demonstrating a knowledge of wider local government law and issues
Working hours:
35 hours per week
Monday – Friday
