Job description

We are currently partnering with an esteemed Housing Association based in the West Midlands who are searching for a Safer Neighbourhoods Officer to join their passionate and pro-active team.

This is a temporary 6-month contract. It is a full-time position with flexible working hours, has hybrid working and is due to start as soon as possible. You must have access to your own vehicle.

The hourly rate for this role is negotiable based on experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for attending court across three main locations: Coventry, Nuneaton and Warwick

  • Drafting witness statements and notices and keeping all systems up to date

  • Understanding the new tools and powers available to tackle anti-social behaviour on estates, including the instigation of legal action

  • Dealing with high-level ASB cases and working to resolve and de-escalate hostile situations

  • Working with colleagues in Neighbourhood Services to implement local neighbourhood plans in a co-ordinated way to create safe places for people to live in

  • Liaising with the tenancy sustainment team to provide tailored support to vulnerable customers

  • Ensuring that appropriate enforcement action is taken, including legal remedies, in cases of serious and or/persistent nuisance or anti-social behaviour; developing specialist knowledge as appropriate

  • Actively contributing to the continuous improvement of services

  • Liaising with Solicitors to obtain appropriate advice to progress Court applications and attending hearings where necessary

  • Working closely with the Neighbourhood Services team and the Concierge team to determine the allocation and deployment of CCTV equipment, Lifeline alarms, mobile telephones and other measures providing support to tenants, including referrals to support services

Experience required:

  • Working with ASB cases

  • Attending court hearings and sending notices

  • Overcoming complex situations

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative and regulatory frameworks applicable to the social housing sector

  • Knowledge of the Housing Tenancy Conditions and the processes involved when enforcing them

  • Ability to manage, organise, and prioritise your own workload

  • Ability to be innovative to maintain and deliver continuous service improvements
