Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a reputable Housing Association based in London, who are recruiting for a Safeguarding Officer on a temporary 3-month contract.

The position is due to start immediately, working 35 hours per week with flexible working across the office, patch and from home. The role is offering a negotiable hourly rate, dependent on experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing safeguarding cases in a housing or local authority. Candidates will drive and have access to their own vehicle with a basic DBS dated in the last 3 months.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assessing incoming referrals, directing clients to additional services, and offering support

  • Understanding the legal framework concerning the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults

  • Providing direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people

  • Safeguard cases by referring to Social Care and MARAC where appropriate, monitoring duty cases sent to program managers for allocation

  • Collaborating within the team to conduct thorough assessments of needs and risks for women experiencing domestic abuse

  • Providing short-term risk management, safety planning, and support, and identify appropriate services for their needs

  • Ensuring that agreed case recording, monitoring systems are kept up to date and secure, writing internal and external reports where required, including for safeguarding conferences, team meetings, managers, and others

  • Participating in multi-agency working and focus groups as requested and follow up on agreed-upon actions arising from these collaborations

  • Experience required:

  • Experience managing safeguarding cases in a housing or local authority environment

  • Experience of supporting and advocating on behalf of Domestic Abuse Survivors

  • Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Up to date knowledge of safeguarding practices, procedures and legislation

  • Able to complete risk and needs assessments, safety and support plans for complex need clients

  • Customer focused approach and able to build strong trust based relationships
