Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Essex, who are recruiting for a Property Inspector on a temporary three – six month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The daily rate of pay is negotiable up to £350 via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have worked in similar role within social housing and contract administration experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage project works and programmes as detailed by the Planned Works Manager ensuring works are completed on time, within budget and to specification

  • Ensure contractors plan, programme and complete works in accordance with agreed specifications and schedules and within set performance targets; complying with all current regulations

  • Manage the housing associations Housing Improvement/defect & hazard rectification contracts and be responsible for the day-to-day running of works

  • Review compliancy failure referrals generated by the Housing Health and Safety Rating system stock condition surveys, and ensure suitable specifications are produced for the inhouse team or external contractors as required

  • Assist, review and monitor spending of budgets and be responsible for valuing and certifying works monthly as per the contract

  • Carry out stock condition, HHSRS, building, measured, project specific, etc. surveys, in accordance with industry and/or agreed process and standards

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Social Housing

  • Contract Administration of Construction Projects

  • Maintaining working relationships with Sub Contractors

  • Supervision of contractors

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Working knowledge of building pathology, repairs, project management and maintenance process within a local authority, or similar organisation

  • Working knowledge of an Asset Management database

  • Knowledge of service level maintenance contracts
