Job description
We are currently partnering with the oldest surviving adult education institution in Europe, who are recruiting for a Maintenance officer to join their growing team on a temporary to permanent basis.

This is a part-time position with a rate of £15.52 PAYE or £18.20 via Umbrella (subject to experience) and the start date is immediate.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
General building maintenance, including light plumbing works, carpentry, and door lock repairs, assistance in unblocking drains when required
Manage and maintain tools, equipment and machinery ensuring they are in good working condition
Coordinate repairs or replacements when necessary
Undertake minor building works, such as patch filling (plaster), carpet laying, and installing shelves
First fix repairs to general fabric fittings, including furniture, lockers, and windows
Monitor stocks and order paints, plumbing materials, shelving, and painting supplies
Arrange furniture to meet examination and classroom requirements
To act as a key holder for College premises and operate the security alarm, whilst also being on the call out list for out of hours emergencies
Experience required:
Experience of working in an Estates or Facilities service team, ideally in a customer facing public sector environment as well as training others in FM / Maintenance tasks
Minimum 2 years’ experience of carrying out repairs and maintenance within the plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical arenas
Experience of using risk assessments to help control activities and prevent accidents
Experience of ensuring building security and of being a key holder.
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Strong spoken and written communication skills.
A good working knowledge of heating systems, electrical services, etc.
Competence in carrying out repairs and maintenance including using hand and power tools / associated equipment.

Working hours:
35 hours per week
Monday – Thursday 11am – 7pm and Friday 10am -6pm
