Job description
We are proud to be partnering with a University in the South West, who are looking to appoint an Legal & Information Governance Officer on a permanent basis.
This will be a full-time position based in the South West, with hybrid working (4 days home working) and a salary of up to £41,000 per annum.
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of GDPR and FOI, and experience in responding to information requests.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Acting as the University’s main point of contact for external and internal enquiries regarding Freedom of Information
Monitoring and managing data requests made under the DPA and information requests under the FOIA/EIR, liaising as required with colleagues throughout the University and drafting responses within statutory deadlines
Providing advice, support, and guidance to staff at all levels on matters relating records management and information compliance
Providing support to the Information Compliance Manager and the Legal Team across their areas of responsibility, including supporting on projects, and undertaking research on legal/compliance issues
Developing and delivering training materials for staff with Records Management responsibilities
Supporting the team in handling actual or alleged breaches of data protection policy and implementing remedial action where required
Experience required:
An understanding of the GDPR and Freedom of Information legal framework including records management
Experience of managing and responding to information requests, including FOI requests and/or SARs

37 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
