Job description

We are working with a local college who are recruiting for a HR Manager. This is a permanent position, based in south Birmingham, paying £40,000 - £45,000 a year (dependant on experience).

They are looking for an accomplished HR Manager, experienced in leading on an operational basis and acting as a key point of contact, providing professional advice and support across all aspects of HR. You must be L5 CIPD qualified have a background working within the education sector.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide operational line management and co-ordination of the HR team
  • Lead and manage the recruitment and selection process, developing a robust system to ensure fairness and appropriate hires
  • Ensure effective pre-employment checks are completed as part of Safer Recruitment and compliance with DBS/safeguarding obligations
  • Manage the HR support of employee relations issues including conducting investigations, grievances, disciplinaries, absences and other meetings in line with company policies and procedures
  • Develop and deliver training to line managers on best practice
  • Review, update and draft HR policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation and company requirements, in conjunction with the Director of HR

Experience required:

  • Experience working within the education sector
  • Have a minimum of L5 CIPD
  • Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Understanding of good practice, current legislation and policy within education
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of people in various settings
  • Working hours:

  • 37 Hours p/week
  • 8:00 – 4:30 (Mon – Thurs)
  • 8:00 – 4:00 (Fri)
