Job description
We are currently working in partnership with an esteemed charity based in Oxfordshire, who work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges.
They are looking for Housing Officer to join their passionate team on a temporary basis until March 2025. This will be a full-time position, and offers the opportunity to work from home to fit business need, whilst managing your own caseload.
The pay rate for this position is £17.50 per hour via an Umbrella Company.
The ideal candidate will have a background in supported accommodation, have access to their own vehicle and an Enhanced DBS dated within three years.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Working alongside a Housing Association to deliver an emergency/short term accommodation service to customers with complex needs (mainly homelessness) in Oxford
Managing a total of 16 bedrooms providing all tenancy related support to customers who will be in the accommodation for approximately 30 days
Maintaining the relationship with the landlords of the property and handling cases of ASB which arise
Completing tenancy signs up and providing a quick turn-around to customers who have been referred
Carrying out weekly room inspections and giving verbal/written warnings when license agreements and tenancy terms have been breached
Providing housing and welfare benefits advice to tenants
Ensuring void rooms are turned around within an appropriate timeframe, liaising with contractors and maintenance teams as necessary
Ensuring that fire safety checks are completed and health and safety of the building is monitored at all times
Managing maintenance requests from tenants and ensuring contractors work was carried out to a satisfactory standard
Chasing tenant arrears and providing support to help prevent future arrears from occurring
Experience required:
Working alongside individuals with a range of complex needs – including homelessness
Forming risk assessments and health and safety checks
Dealing with tenancy management – including monitoring rent accounts and overcokming ASB cases
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Ability to mediate disputes in a calm manner and maintain strong communications
Manage your own workload and prioritise tasks accordingly
Build effective working relationships with clients
Knowledge of tenant agreements and Housing legislation
