Job description

We are currently partnering with a reputable organisation within the social housing sector, who are recruiting for a Homelessness Support Worker to join their team on a 3 month temporary contract.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who has experience supporting vulnerable individuals suffering from or at risk of homelessness, ex offenders, those with complex mental health or substance abuse issues.

This contract is 30 hours per week working over 4 days with a pay rate of £21 per hour via an Umbrella company. This role is an immediate start position.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a caseload of 6-7 clients in permanent tenancies, to assist in preventing housing instability/homelessness and co-occurring barriers and difficulties

  • Manging a further 2 clients in pre tenancy agreements secure housing

  • Creating and implementing support plans and risk assessments

  • Providing intensive, person-centred, holistic support that is open-ended

  • Liaising with external organisations and signposting individuals in need of further guidance and support

  • Conducting property checks of dwellings

  • Supporting residents to understand and access the benefits they are entitled to

  • Assisting with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit applications

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Previous experience supporting homeless and vulnerable individuals is essential for this position

  • Strong understanding of housing benefit and universal credit applications

  • Be a motivated and dedicated individual

Working hours:

  • 30 hours per week

  • 8am-4pm (4 days per week- flexible on which days)
