Job description

​We are currently partnering with a leading Housing Association based in the Midlands, who are recruiting for an Electrician on a temporary to permanent basis.

Our client is proud to be a registered provider of Social Housing offering more than 23,000 homes to their residents, they put them at the heart of everything and strive to offer a first call service to all.

This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £25 - £27 on a CIS basis, the permanent salary pays up to £39,485 per annum. The position includes a company van and fuel card.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Mainly conducting minor repairs on tenanted properties i.e. changing light bulbs, minor fixes, installing circuits and boards

  • Complying with the Health & Safety Policy, ensuring own and others health and safety

  • Carrying out high quality repairs to the housing stock in accordance with customers’ requirements working occupied properties

  • Liaising as necessary with other sections/trades to ensure implementation and completion of repairs and maintenance works

  • Using any tools, machinery, equipment or hazardous substances in accordance with information and instruction provided

  • Reporting any health and safety concerns or danger to line management as soon as practicable

  • Working at heights is a vital part of this role, you must be able to climb ladders and competently undertake the duties of an operative

Experience required:

  • Strong knowledge of building repairs

  • A good understanding of IEE requirements

  • A good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements

  • Knowledge of housing management systems

  • Technical knowledge of electro technologies, fixed wiring systems, maintenance and testing procedures

  • Experience of carrying out electrical repairs, building repairs and ‘Decent Homes’ Kitchen & Bathroom works

  • Must have worked in a customer facing role

  • Proven experience of prioritising and multi-tasking effectively to meet deadlines

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships

Qualifications required:

  • AM2 National Electrotechnical training

  • C&G Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of electrical (2391 or BS2391 or equivalent)

  • City & Guilds 18th Edition (Level 3 award in the requirements for electrical installations BS 7671:2018)

  • Relevant experience post qualification

  • Level 3 Electro technical studies C&G 2330 or 2357 or equivalent

Working hours:

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday
