Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Charity based in West Yorkshire, who are recruiting for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner on a temporary five-month contract. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, with one day working from home. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £18.00 via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have provided support to clients suffering from domestic violence, have an Enhanced DBS dated within the last three years, or be happy to have one carried out, drive and have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including; legal options, housing support, health and finance

  • Working directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of high- risk victims and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated through multi agency protocols ie MARAC

  • Developing and maintaining good positive working relationships and referral pathways with relevant agencies and professionals and health and finance

  • Being flexible and creative in supporting clients to achieve independence, increase confidence and safety

  • Valuing the diversity of the community in which the services are working, and understanding the needs and concerns of a diverse range of victims ensuring the service is accessible to all

  • Taking part and supporting organisational policy development and implementation

Experience required:

  • Experience required in supporting clients suffering from domestic violence

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours, flexible between the hours of 8am – 6pm
