Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Hertfordshire, who are recruiting for a Damp & Mould Surveyor on a temporary three-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The daily rate of pay is between £280 - £300 via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of building technology and specialist knowledge in diagnosing damp and condensation problems.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Interpreting briefs, scope of works and project requirements from, client officers, project sponsors, and external clients and stakeholders, tenants and external organisations

  • Carry out specialist damp and condensation surveys and report on findings, using specialist equipment where required

  • Identifying and recommending the need to appoint specialist and consultants

  • Ensuring project delivery within a strict qualitative and commercial framework

  • Diagnosing defects and implement cost effective solutions for repairs. /Improvements and how to minimise condensation problems

  • Preparing outline specifications during the design process and detailed specifications for quotation purposes. This shall also include the contract conditions, preliminaries, and schedule of works

  • Preparing drawings, specifications and schedule of works sufficient for to convey work required.

  • Investigate selection of appropriate materials and methods of construction

Experience required:

  • Experience in dealing with council tenants and understanding their needs and circumstances to ensure a quality and satisfactory outcome is achieved

  • Experience in liaising directly with and coordination of contractors and consultants, project sponsor and external organisations and other members of the project team

  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and developing solutions relating to the rectification of damp and condensation problems

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Detailed knowledge of building technology and specialist knowledge in diagnosing damp and condensation problems

  • Knowledge of building defects, general repairs and specific solutions required to rectify damp and condensation problems

  • Developed skills in the preparation of schedule of works and specifications as required at the various stages of the project including documents for quotation and tendering purposes
