Job description
Our client, based in Hertfordshire, is currently recruiting for a Commercial Building Surveyor on a 3-month temporary contract. Our client is a Local Authority and is committed to making a difference, seeking to improve the quality of life and provide the best public services for the local community.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.
Due to the nature of the role, the client is looking for someone who has previous experience managing a range of capital construction projects from inception to completion across the council’s varied property portfolio which includes commercial, leisure, community, parks, neighbourhood centres, car parks etc.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Provide Surveying services ensuring that the building stock, including leisure, commercial, community and park buildings are repaired and maintained in a good state of repair
- Preparing drawings as required, schedule of work and specifications required for improvement works
- Contract Administration of projects, issuing certificates as required under the contract, issuing variation orders, certifying contract payments and Final Accounts
- Managing projects from inception to completion including preparation of documents for quotation and tendering purposes up to the value of 100k
- Preparing budget estimates, costs and outline specifications during the design process
- Liaising with internal teams to ensure coordination with other capital works programmes
Experience required:
- Track record of instructing and overseeing repairs and health and safety works
- Experience of managing and clienting contracts
- Track record of compliance works and the capital programme
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work and collaborate with different departments
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
- Detailed knowledge of building technology and construction including identifying defects and repair solutions.
- Highly developed skills in the preparation of drawings, schedule of works and specifications as required at the various stages of the project including documents for quotation and tendering purposes
- Detailed Knowledge of the procurement process
