Job description
We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in Somerset, who are recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their growing team on a three month rolling contract.
This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £60.00 per hour via an umbrella company and the start date is subject to notice.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Ensuring the organisation meets its statutory duty of enforcing Building Regulations within all construction projects
- Examining deposited plans for compliance with Building Regulations and Building Act requirements, conducting consultations with applicants, professional agents and consultative bodies, negotiating amendments and recommending approval or refusal
- Providing pre-application advice to enquiries in relation to projects
- Conducting site inspections of works in progress for compliance with Building Regulations under Full Plans, Building Notice and Regularisation procedures
- Produce and maintain electronic records of site works which includes the production of letters, notifications, reports, completion certificates and other documents on the document storage system
- Regarding potentially dangerous structures, attend emergency callouts (includes out of hours) responding to requests from Emergency Services, determining the scale and nature of emergency measures to make them and the public safe including issuing Statutory and demolition notices
Requirements:
- Degree, HNC or degree equivalent in a construction related discipline
- Membership of a professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB
- Full UK driving licence
