Job description

We are currently working in partnership with reputable Support organisation based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for an Assistant Head of Service to join their passionate and driven team on a permanent basis. The salary for this position is £36,050 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a complex needs service, access to their own vehicle, and the ability to liaise with external stakeholders.

They are open to considering Support Managers who are looking to take the next step in progressing their career.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting, guiding, managing and developing the team to enable the achievement of customer and service goals

  • Ensuring that all association accommodation is maintained as a safe and pleasant environment for customers to maintain their tenancies

  • Managing and monitoring the service to ensure cost efficiency and value for money 

  • Administering occupancy agreements across accommodations and independent supported accommodation including, where necessary, tenancy termination

  • Ensuring customers are provided with practical support and counselling on matters such as housing, employment, finance, cultural needs, social and personal problems, education, social skills, hygiene and health care 

  • Taking responsibility for safeguarding and health and well-being concerns for customers and staff 

  • Maintaining rotas and ensuring effective management at the scheme 

  • Conducting regular property audits, providing remedial solutions and reporting to management team

  • Monitoring team performance through conducting appraisals, audits, training and inductions

Experience required:

  • Effectively managing a team within a Homeless Support service

  • Working alongside vulnerable clients and mediating complex situations

  • Monitoring health and safety iand safeguarding concerns in line with regulations and policies

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Strong communication

  • Up -to-date knowledge on Homelessness and Housing legislation

  • Self-motivated

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
