Job description

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for an Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis for 6-months initially.

This is a full-time position for 35-hours a week, offering a rate in the region of £55 p/hour UMB.

The role offers hybrid working, with attendance required at Court hearings and once a month for team meetings.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Advising the Council on a range of Adult Social Care matters and mental health issues

  • Handling a varied caseload of adult social care matters, including care management and assessments, mental capacity, mental health, asylum, immigration and adult safeguarding

  • Undertaking advocacy in the Courts and representing the council in the Court of Protection

  • Providing advice under the Mental Health Act 1983, including displacement of nearest relative, deprivation of liberty, place of safety, s117 aftercare
