Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Leading Young People based in Somerset, who are recruiting for Housing Support Workers on a temporary 3-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go permanent. The hourly rate of pay is £17 via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have supported a vulnerable client group within a supported accommodation or community setting. They must have an Enhanced DBS from within the last 12-months (or be on the Update Service).

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting individuals between the ages of 16 – 25 years old/ young families within a community setting that have individual needs such as homelessness, mental health etc.

  • Helping clients to find move on accommodation and providing advice to help sustain their tenancies

  • Offering with welfare and benefits advice as well as giving support with general money management

  • Creating support plans and undertaking risk assessments

  • Signposting client queries to the appropriate external agency such as the Police, Probation Services, Social Services and Local Authorities

  • Encouraging clients to get involved with community activities and socialise with those around them

  • Assisting with tenancy management, low level anti-social behaviour complaints, rental arrears and more

  • Work in partnership with housing management and maintenance to address housing management issues

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Supported Housing

  • Experience working with vulnerable client, with challenging behaviors

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and support plans

  • Providing emotional and welfare advice

  • Ability to advice on Universal Credit and benefits payments

  • Liaise with external agencies such as: Police, Social Service and relevant charities

Working hours:

  • 37.50 hours per week

  • Shift patterns – this can be discussed with your line manager
