Job description

Are you an experienced Industrial Relations professional looking for a dynamic and impactful role? We are looking to appoint an interim Senior IR Manager to lead key engagement, policy, and negotiation strategies on a 6-month interim contract, with a day rate of £600-700umb. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping industrial relations across critical public service sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support organisational change initiatives, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices

  • Lead on policy implementation and coordinate with the internal communications team.

  • Establish and manage IR forums with partner organisations

  • Organise and lead bi-annual stakeholder meetings with union representatives and senior officials

  • Oversee day-to-day industrial relations work across key departments

  • Develop and implement industrial relations strategies aligned with policies

  • Act as the primary liaison between the organisation and trade unions, facilitating negotiations and consultations

  • Provide expert advice to senior leadership and ER teams on industrial relations matters

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a senior industrial relations role, ideally within the public sector

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law, trade union engagement, and collective bargaining

  • Excellent negotiation and mediation skills, with the ability to manage complex employee relations cases

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels

  • Experience in policy implementation and working with internal communications teams

  • Ability to establish and lead IR forums and facilitate high-level meetings
