Job description
We are proud to be partnering with a local authority, who are looking to appoint a Senior Housing Officer on a 6-month temporary contract.
This will be a full-time position based in Taunton, with hybrid working (2/3 days home working) and an hourly rate of £26.00 per hour via an umbrella company.
The ideal candidate will have extensive line management experience and ideally have experience going to court on behalf of the local authority.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Oversee a team of 8 Estates Officer and 2 ASB Officers who ensured a tenant-focussed service across a wide geographical patch
Collaborate with the senior management team, developed strategies and policies for the housing team
Ensured that customer satisfaction is a high priority at all times and that any services delivered proved value for money
Conducted one to one appraisal, set KPI's for staff and conducted training when required, completing disciplinaries when required
Used an outstanding knowledge of Housing-based legislation to make every-day decisions surrounding the management of the patch – also advice on policy and procedure
Ensured that the team were detailing the terms of tenancy agreements upon sign-up and that tenants understood what constituted a breach of tenancy
Take responsibility of complex cases, handling tenancy breaches and injections
Attended court on behalf of the organisation, namely on rent-arrears based cases
Monitored financial budgets, new policies, letters and communications for the team and ensured that all spending fit within this
Developed and liaised with external and internal agencies and stakeholders
Working hours:
37 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
