Job description

We are currently working in partnership with an Educational Institution based in Birmingham, who are recruiting for a Risk & Policy Manager on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover.

They are looking for someone to start in May, and are offering a salary of £45,000. This is a hybrid role, and will require occasional attendance at evening meetings.

The ideal candidate will have line management experience, and be confident developing and implementing policies.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading on policy development, including writing and drafting policies, creating and updating templates, submitting to the Board for approval and implementing new policies
  • Coordinating the production, maintenance and reporting of risk registers across the organisation
  • Ensuring that a comprehensive risk assurance framework is applied to all strategic, financial, operational and compliance risks
  • Working with stakeholders to embed risk management consideration as part of regular strategic and operational planning processes
  • Line managing two members of staff, carrying out probation reviews and setting targets
  • Overseeing insurance provision, ensuring appropriate cover is in place
  • Assisting with ongoing projects within the team and organisation

Experience required:

  • Experience of risk and policy management
  • Highly competent in using Microsoft office applications, including Excel
  • Experience managing staff

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Strong communication skills, able to liaise with stakeholders of all levels
  • Strategic thinking
