Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Greater Manchester Council who are looking to appoint an Rent Income Officer on a 12 Month temporary basis.

This will be a full-time position based in Bury, with hybrid working (3/4 days home working) and an hourly rate of £21.86 via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of income management and be comfortable in chasing both current and former rent arrears.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Collecting and managing rent arrears and other charges, including former tenant arrears, service charges, and garage rent

  • Working with customers experiencing financial difficulties, identifying reasons for debt, offering advice, and negotiating payment agreements

  • Promoting a rent-first culture within the team, the wider organisation, and with tenants

  • Preparing legal documentation for court and tenancy review panel hearings

  • Conducting interviews with tenants, including home visits, and offering tailored solutions in the best interest of the customer and the company

  • Undertaking benefit assessments and helping customers maximise their income and opportunities by encouraging them to take up benefits, grants, and engage in capacity-building, training, work, and other programmes.

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Housing

  • Experience working with customers within housing

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
