Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a rapidly growing building regulations compliance consultancy firm, who are looking to appoint a Principal Building Regulation Consultant on a permanent contract.

This will be a full-time position with hybrid working and a salary of up to £85,000 per annum. Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK.

Our client is looking for someone to join to be an important part of the design team & provide expert advice, assessments and solutions related to the design and construction of a wide variety of buildings to achieve compliance with the Building Regulations.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Liaising with clients and their professional teams around project scope and management of the fee proposal process

  • Reviewing scheme proposals and providing initial comments and mark-ups with regards to compliance

  • Meeting with clients and design teams to present and discuss our initial comments

  • Reviewing and responding to queries in relation to early-stage design development

  • Providing expert ad-hoc advice on Building Regulations compliance as required

  • Formal report writing with annotations to clearly demonstrate compliance in order to support the design teams submission to approving authorities

Experience required:

  • Professional membership of a Chartered Body – CABE, RICS, or CIOB

  • Registered Building Inspector to at least level 2F

  • Proven experience as a Building Control Surveyor or Registered Building Inspector

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Approachable and reliable in character

  • Able to work on their own initiative and without supervision although willing to collaborate with colleagues

  • Diplomatic but firm in dealings with clients and design teams

  • Mon – Fri

  • 37.5 – 42 hours per week
