Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Higher Educational body based in North London, who are recruiting for a HR Advisor on a temporary contract until the end of March. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable based upon experience.

The ideal candidate will have past experience advising senior stakeholders on change programmes and will have completed job evaluations.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring best practice in operational HR business partnering through the provision of high quality, consistent, robust, proactive and timely advice and support to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with, HR policies, employment law and best practice

  • Advising the HR Business Partners, supporting change management programmes including the development of consultation documents, supporting individual consultation meetings and redeployment of employees at risk of redundancy and interview panels

  • Working with the Reward Manager, advise client areas in relation to the application of the University’s reward mechanisms, ensuring consistency, fairness and transparency

  • Providing support with organisational change job evaluation

  • Leading on specific projects and pieces of work to support improvements to HR procedures, delivery and the achievement of the project objectives

  • Assisting the HR Busness Partnering Team and Rewards Team to advise on and review job descriptions and person specificaitions and support interview and selection processes

  • Championing and embedding equality, diversity and inclusivity within all HR and client area activities

Experience required:

  • Broad experience in generalist HR with exposure to all areas of HR practice, i.e. reward, employee relations, employment law, learning and development and resourcing

  • Understanding of the implications of organisational change and the role of HR in supporting the design, consultation, delivery and embedding of change

  • Experience of using and interpreting HR policies and procedures and use of best practice within employment legislation and conditions of service

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Good knowledge of job evaluation methodologies

  • Proven clear and concise written and verbal communication skill

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and progess a high volume of routine matters independently and approach novel problems in a proactive and solutions based manner

  • Effective team player and able to build effective team relations as both a member of the HR directorate and with client areas

  • Tactful and diplomatic in dealing with sensitive matters, respect confidentiality at all times

  • Good attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of job evaluation systems such as HAY or HERA

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday
