Job description

Our client, based in Swindon, are currently recruiting for a Head of Property Services on a 4-month temporary contract.

The position is due to start as soon as the candidate is available and is on a full-time basis. The day rate is negotiable based on experience for this position. Please note that we are able to offer a day rate that can cover hotel costs for overnight stays.

The main premise of the role is to prepare the organisation for a series of planned inspections from the Housing Regulator, so the ideal candidate will have some relevant experience in regards to this in addition to a wealth of Social Housing experience.

Please see below a list of the required duties:

  • Leading a team consisting of an Asset Manager and four RICS Surveyors to ensure that the necessary stock, asset and repairs plans are adhered to and kept up to date, meeting the organisations strategic, operations and compliance objectives

  • Ensuring that all operational delivery is in adherence with H&S, Building Regulations and the full scope of the Big Six Compliance

  • Continually updating, and monitoring of key performance indicators to ensure effective performance of the service delivery

  • Forecasting/Setting of annual/day to day and capital works budget, ensuring all processes are streamlined to secure success

  • Acting as the focal point for all aspects repairs, compliance and assets – providing expert advice across all matters

  • Heading the strategic, and operational delivery for the Council with clear outlines to achieve pre-agreed targets/goals

  • Exercising an understanding of the HRA Financial Regime, and work alongside the director of finance to create viable medium and long term plans up to a 30-year business plan

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Line management of Maintenance Operatives

  • Financial management and budgeting

  • Compliance and due diligence within a Social Housing setting
