Our client, a County Council based in the South West, is currently recruiting for a locum Childcare Solicitor on an initial 3-month contract, offering fully remote working.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, and the hourly rate is in the region of £55 p/hour UMB.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing key childcare cases, and have experience working in Local Government.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Managing own caseload of Childcare matters, including care proceedings, PLOs and DOLs
• Providing a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of child protection work to the Children, Young People and Families Directorate and to the Council
• Representing the Council in attended hearings concerning children in the Family Court
• Briefing Counsel on behalf of the Council in the Family Court, and obtaining Counsel’s opinion on any relevant matters relating to children’s proceedings
• Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents to give effect to decisions of the Client Directorate and the Council

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday – Friday
