Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a fantastic Local Authority who are looking to appoint a Temporary Accommodation Officer on a 6-montth temporary contract.

This will be a full-time position based in Barry that is offering a competitive rate of £22-£24 via an Umbrella Company. They’re looking for the successful candidate to start with short notice, but this is subject to their notice period.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of tenancy related issues such as: tenancy breaches, rental arrears, repairs and admin but also excellent administration skills.

Day-to-day responsibilities will be (but are not limited to):

  • Provide an effective tenancy management service to 6 properties across Barry, Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff
  • Ensure all housing management functions are completed to a high standard for Ex-Offender tenants
  • Work with and supporting clients who have low to medium needs
  • Complete regular tenancy and maintenance checks in customers properties and liaising with external agencies regarding repairs
  • Conduct Risk Assessments on tenants and ensure they have the correct support
  • Offer welfare and benefit advice to tenants in order to help maximise income
  • Complete tenancy sign ups with tenants and advising on consequence of a breach of tenancy, as well as room inspections and H&S checks
  • Liaise with external agencies on a regular basis and handling ASB complaints from tenants
  • Experience required:

    • Experience required in Social Housing and with individuals with challenging backgrounds
    • Experience advising on tenancy and property management
    • Conducted tenancy inspections and risk assessments

    Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

    • Ability to build relationship with difficult clients in the area
    • Latest welfare and benefits knowledge
    • Tenancy related knowledge – Tenancy Sign-ups, issues and concerns
    • The ability to work collaborate with other teams such as: Lettings, Maintenance, Income and Homelessness

    Working hours:

    • 37 hours per week
    • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
