Job description

Our client, based in Letchworth, is currently recruiting for an Income Recovery Officer on a permanent basis.

The position is due to start on the 6th October on a full-time basis and the salary is £39,455.32 which includes a £1240 car allowance

The ideal candidate will have income recovery experience, have previously attended court, and must have a driving license and access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a caseload of 1200 accounts, including around 500 arrears
  • Reviewing and prioritising all accounts and taking prompt, appropriate and affective action in line with policies and procedures to prevent debt accruing and recover current arrears owed to us
  • Forging appropriate relationships with residents to encourage and support rent payment
  • Reviewing and managing credit balances on former and current accounts
  • Reviewing and recovering debt on former accounts in line with procedure and to meet targets
  • Instigating legal action to recover debt within delegated authority including preparation of legal Notices, court applications and preparing evidence
  • Promptly seeking authority to obtain warrants and attendance at evictions
  • Forging excellent relationships with external agencies such as solicitors, Local Authority Housing Benefits Departments, Citizens Advice and the DWP
  • Attending court to present cases and defend breaches of tenancy cases to achieve the best outcome
  • Acting as duty officer on a regular rota basis, providing advice and assistance to residents on all income and tenancy matters, including anti-social behaviour

Experience required:

  • Relevant experience of income management and arrears recovery, including taking possession action
  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment and the ability to deal with challenging customers
  • The use of any IT packages

  • Innovative and able to put ideas into practice

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30am-5pm
